Reflections, Angels, and Chaos in Colorado

The Mountain View High School Concert Band will be performing Reflections in a Tidal Pool, and Jim will be performing Angels with Dirty Faces and Chaos Theory with the Mountain View High School Symphonic Band,with Peter Toews conducting.

Friday at PAX East

Jim will be part of a panel of video game composers (Aubrey Hodges (Doom 64), Gene Rozenberg (Henry Hatsworth) and Duncan Watt (Brothers In Arms: Hell’s Highway)), for an audiovisual trip celebrating great videogame music – past, present, and future – at the JamSpace of the PAX East convention at 3:00 PM on Friday.  For more details click HERE.

Wind and Rhythm Radio Show

Jim and the BCM composers will all be featured on episode 79 of the radio show, Wind and Rhythm, on WKTU, in a show entitled “Rivers, Pools, Storms, and Fountains”.

Artist in Residence, Eastern Illinois University

Jim will be artist in residence at Eastern Illinois University, when Dr. Milton Allen and the EIU Wind Ensemble perform Jim’s composition, Diabolus Ex Machina.  Jim will also perform the electric guitar part with the ensemble.

2K Boston is now Irrational Games

The name has changed, but the players stay the same – 2K Boston is once again Irrational Games, with a brand spanking-new website, and a podcast series called Irrational Behavior, produced by Shawn Elliott and Jim Bonney.  (podcasts are rated “T to M” for foul language)

Diabolus Ex Machina – World Premiere

The University of Alabama Wind Ensemble will premiere Jim’s latest concert work, Diabolus Ex Machina, under the baton of Randall O. Coleman.  To learn more about this piece, click HERE.

Sticks & Stones featured in The Instrumentalist

“Sticks & Stones”, for drumset and Wind Ensemble, will be featured in the November issue of the music magazine The Instrumentalist. The article will include a detailed analysis of the piece, as well as photos from the premiere performance (Peter Toews and the Mountain View High School Wind Ensemble, with Shilo Stroman, drumset soloist), and a list of Jim’s suggestions of influential recordings.

Sticks & Stones featured in Hal Leonard’s Fall Catalog

“Sticks & Stones” will be featured in the 2008 Hal Leonard Fall Catalog. Excerpts included on the CD were performed by Dwayne Engh and the Calgary Stampede, with Tyler Hornby as the drumset soloist.
